The English response was Memoirs of a Woman of Pleasure (later shortened and changedl), written in 1748. While the text is a satire on the literary conventions and rules fashionable in England in the 18th Century, there was the real scandal of the figure of the narrator and a woman to enjoy sexual activities without severe physical or moral consequences.
